In response to queries during a media briefing, Bagchi expressed his unawareness of the specific remarks made by Ambassador Garcetti but acknowledged the importance of peace in Manipur. He highlighted the ongoing efforts of Indian agencies, security forces, and local governments to promote peace and stability in the region. Bagchi also noted that it is uncommon for foreign diplomats to comment on internal matters in India and reserved his own comment until he could review the exact statements made, as ANI reported.

Ambassador Eric Garcetti had remarked on the progress in the Northeast region, emphasizing the need for peace and expressing the readiness of the US to assist if requested to address the situation in Manipur. He emphasized that peace in the region would bring more collaboration, projects, and investment opportunities.

Regarding US National Security Council Coordinator for Indo-Pacific Kurt Campbell's statement on US-India relations and challenges, Bagchi acknowledged the candor and depth of the bilateral relationship. He indicated that Campbell's comment recognized the mutual understanding between the two countries, allowing for frank discussions on various issues while acknowledging the potential for collaboration.
