Nation Pays Homage To ‘Mahatma’ On Gandhi Jayanti, PM Modi Says ‘Bapu’s’ Teachings Continue To Illuminate

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived early in the morning at Rajghat to pay his tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday paid his tributes to the ‘Father of Nation’ Mahatma Gandhi on his 154th birth anniversary.

Taking to microblogging site X formerly known as Twitter, Modi said said Bapu’s timeless teachings continue to illuminate everyone’s path.?

Mahatma Gandhi is fondly remembered as ‘Bapu’, or ‘the father of the nation’.

“I bow to Mahatma Gandhi on the special occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. His timeless teachings continue to illuminate our path. Mahatma Gandhi's impact is global, motivating the entire humankind to further the spirit of unity and compassion. May we always work towards fulfilling his dreams. May his thoughts enable every youngster be the agent of change he dreamt of, fostering unity and harmony all over, Modi said tweeted.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Rajghat at 7.30 am to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Delhi LG VK Saxena, and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge were among the leaders who paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat on his birth anniversary.

On Sunday, a cleanliness drive was organised across the country following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal for the campaign.

In a recent episode of his 'Mann Ki Baat' radio programme, Modi appealed for "one hour of shramdaan (voluntary labour) for swachhata" on October 1 by all citizens, saying it would be a "swachhanjali" to Mahatma Gandhi on the eve of his birth anniversary.
