Sultanpuri Case: 11 Delhi Police Personnel Suspended Over Negligence In Kanjhawala Horror

All the 11 policemen, who belonged?to the Rohini district police, which oversees outer Delhi's Kanjhawala area, have been suspended over negligence.

As many as 11 Delhi police personnel were suspended on Friday, a day after Union Home Minister Amit Shah directed Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora to suspend all personnel posted in three PCR vans and two pickets along the route where 20-year-old Anjali Singh was dragged by a car for 13 km?in the early hours of the New Year's Day.

All the 11 policemen, who belonged?to the Rohini district police, which oversees outer Delhi's Kanjhawala area, have been suspended over negligence.

The move comes after Delhi Police special commissioner Shalini Singh in her assessment report to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) pointed out serious lapses?on the part of these cops who were on duty on New Year’s eve in the capital.

“Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has received a detailed report from Delhi Police in the Kanjhawala incident case in which a woman’s body was dragged for several kilometres by a car after it hit her scooter. Taking cognisance of the report, the MHA has suggested the Delhi Police Commissioner suspend the police personnel deployed?at three PCRs and two police pickets, and take disciplinary action against them,” an MHA official said.

According to a report by CNN-News, no actions were taken despite repeated calls being made to the PCR. It has also been alleged that the police pickets along the route remained unresponsive despite repeated calls.

As part of the ongoing investigation,?a team from the National Forensic Science University in Gujarat visited the Sultanpuri area on Thursday and recreated the crime scene, officials said.?

Anjali Singh, 20, was killed in the early hours of the New Year after her scooter was hit by a car which dragged her for 12 km from Sultanpuri to Kanjhawala.??Police have, in all, arrested seven people in connection with the accident.?Deepak Khanna, 26, Amit Khanna, 25, Krishan, 27, Mithun, 26, and Manoj Mittal were arrested by police in the immediate wake of the incident.?
