DC superhero film 'Aquaman & The Lost Kingdom' has released in India on December 21. The film stars Jason Momoa, Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, among others. The film has clashed with Shah Rukh Khan's 'Dunki'. Prabhas' Salaar' releasing on December 22, so 'Aquaman 2' is likely to face tough competition from the mega movies.

'Aquaman' which was released in India in December 2018, was a blockbuster. The first-day collection of the Jason Momoa starrer was Rs 5.50 crore and it made a total collection of Rs 55 crore in India. But this time it won't be minting much as most people in India will flock to theatres to watch 'Dunki' or 'Salaar', says trade experts.

It is to be noted that in 2018, 'Aquaman Part 1' was released on December 14, just a few days before Shah Rukh Khan’s 'Zero' which was a box office dud.?

Lokendra Jain, a film exhibitor in Mumbai opened up about the mega clashes as he said, ''Two big movies one from Bollywood?and one from South?are releasing, so, that's the reason there is no buzz about 'Aquaman'. That's the problem".

He added, "It will be the third option for them. I personally feel people won't go to watch the film".

'Barbie' and 'Oppenheimer' did great business in India and were blockbusters. On this, Jain said, "Those films did well because at that time there were no big movies from South or Hindi at the box office. Now, people have better choices, so, they will go and watch these movies only. It is facing tough competition because single screens or two screens are not going to release the movie. Salaar and Dunki are going to capture all the shows both in single and double screens".

When asked about the day 1 collection of 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom', he predicted, "In comparison to last Aquaman, it will be near about 20-25 percent and not more than that. It won't collect more than?Rs 2-3 crore on Day 1 at the box office.?

''Aquaman will be released in 2K. It will not get shows on single screens. Dunki and Salaar will highly affect the film," said Swarndeep Vishwakarma, a film distributor.
