'Yatra 2' Teaser Review: Jiiva Takes Over Mammootty's Reins In This Biopic About YSR Congress
Starring Jiiva, the trailer of 'Yatra 2' is here. The film follows the events that take place after YSR Reddy's death.
The trailer of ‘Yatra 2’ opens with a shot of Jiiva who is talking to a blind man. The man is sitting on a roundabout with a poster of YS Rajasekhara Reddy (played by Mammootty). He asks him why he is sitting there when he cannot see. The man says that it doesn’t matter if he can see or not, what matters is that YSR Reddy’s son will be able to see how people love and support him. This opening shot sets the theme of the sequel. It establishes that the movie will be about Jaganmohan Reddy (played by Jiiva) and how he changes the political landscape.
Take a look at the teaser of ‘Yatra 2’ here.
The sequel follows the events that took place after YSR Reddy’s death. In the first movie, it was shown that he lost his life in a helicopter crash. From the looks of it, it looks like the makers have left no stone unturned in making sure Jaganmohan Reddy shines as the lead in the film. Sonia Gandhi and Chandrababu Naidu play the antagonists in the film. The makers have given them classic villain-esque dialogues that fortify their position as cinematic villains. However, the makers also need to walk a tightrope between portraying them as villains and staying true to the events. It’s too soon to judge how the film treats its villains but one can only hope.
All the characters in the teaser have been chalked out well. None of them feel like cardboard characters. Everyone looks like they have something to say and contribute. However, the film is also running the risk of being way too OTT and skirting away from what it aims to present. The teaser looks action-packed, and it will keep you glued to your seat.
Directed by Mahi V Raghav, ‘Yatra 2’ is set to release in cinemas on February 8.
