British actor Keira Knightley made her debut in the 1995 film, ‘Innocent Lives.’ But it wasn’t until she shared screen space with Johnny Depp that she became a global name. When she starred in the 2003 ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl’ as Elizabeth Swann, she became one of the most sought-after actors. However, in an interview, the actor revealed that she had to undergo therapy to get over the trauma she gained from the film.

In an old interview with Variety that has gone viral now, Keira Knightley revealed that she was just 17 when she starred in the first installment of ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean.’ She revealed that the fame she got after this role was something that she had not imagined. She mentioned that felt “caged” while filming the movie.

Keira Knightley said, “I found it pretty horrific. I’m not an extrovert, so I found that level of scrutiny and that level of fame really hard. It was an age where you are becoming, you haven’t become, and you need to make mistakes. It’s a very precarious age, particularly for women. You’re in some ways still a child. It was traumatic, but it set up the rest of my career.”

She goes on to add that she was hard on herself during the early stage of her career. She was ambitious and driven. She mentioned that she was always chasing perfection. While she is glad that this helped her reach where she is, it also came at a cost.

Keira Knightley added, “I have a level of fame that’s much less intense. I can deal with it now, and that’s great. But at the time, it was not so great, and took many years of therapy to figure it out.”

Keira Knightley was last seen in ‘Boston Strangler’ playing the role of Loretta McLaughlin.
