Mumbai Police Files FIR Against Nayanthara's ‘Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food’ For Hurting Religious Sentiments
Nayanthara and Jai's latest film 'Annapoorani' has now landed into trouble for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.?
Now the film 'Annapoorani' has landed itself in trouble for allegedly hurting religious sentiments and promoting 'Love Jihad'. It has been facing backlash due to an alleged inclusion of a controversial comment regarding Lord Ram. The FIR against the film was filed in Mumbai by a man named Ramesh Solanki.
Featuring Nayanthara and Jai in the lead role, the film is currently streaming on Netflix. It was helmed by debutant Nilesh Krishnaa.?
The man, Ramesh Solanki, shared a statement on X and mentioned how he has also filed a police complaint asserting that the movie 'promoted Love Jihad'. He claimed that 'Annapoorani' has offended 'Hindu sentiments'. The FIR has been filed against Nayanthara, Jai, Nilesh and producers Jatin Sethi, R Ravindran and Punit Goenka, Zee Studios Chief Business Officer Shariq Patel and the head of Netflix India, Monika Shergill.

As for the film, it was shot in Srirangam, Trichy in Tamil Nadu. ‘Annapoorani’ marked Nayanthara’s next venture after she made her Bollywood debut with SRK and Atlee’s mega-blockbuster film ‘Jawan’, establishing her as a pan-Indian star. ‘Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food’ also marked the reunion of Jai and Nayanthara after a decade.
In addition, the film also starred Sathyaraj, Achyuth Kumar, Kumari Sachu, KS Ravikumar, Redin Kingsly, Karthik Kumar and Suresh Chakkaravarthy. The film’s music has been composed by 'Varisu' composer Thaman.
