Regina Cassandra: Working With Srijit Mukherji Was Incredibly Engaging
Regina Cassandra speaks up about her latest show, ‘Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke’ where she plays a cop inspired from real-life IPS officers. The Zee5 show has been directed by filmmaker Srijit Mukherji.
Talking to Prateek Sur, Regina Cassandra opens up about ‘Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke’, how she decided to be a part of the show, why she decided to play a cop and whether her character has some inspiration from real life or not. Excerpts from the candid chat:
What was your thought behind playing Kavya in ‘Jaanbazz Hindustan Ke’?
The project came to me at the perfect time, giving me an excellent experience to play the part of an IPS officer, therefore it wasn't difficult enough for me. Additionally, I was given a position that requires me to balance my personal and professional lives while simultaneously playing the roles of a mother, daughter, and wife. Working with Srijit Mukherji?was incredibly engaging, and we had a great time on every shoot.
In your last project ‘Saakini Daakini’ you played a cop and again you do so in ‘Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke’. Is there a scene of comfort, playing cop characters?
I believe that if you are an actor, you should always position yourself such that you can easily coordinate with your colleagues. The character I was given for this production has a lot of drama and humour, which makes my position in it seem potential. So, yes, it was a little challenging, but I also found the part to be quite intriguing.
The show is inspired by true events. Who is your character inspired by?
The character is really an amalgamation of everything, and the persona is not based on a single individual; rather, it was inspired by a few IPS officers from our country who we learned about it through our own research.
