Tiger Woods Joins PGA Tour Policy Board as Sixth Player Director
Famous American professional golfer Tiger Woods joined the PGA tour policy board for the first time in 27 years of his tour.
Tiger Woods will reportedly join the PGA Tour policy board as the sixth player director, making history as the first-time players outnumber independent directors, said Monahan.?
The decision which was taken on Tuesday came at an important time as a pact to cooperate with the Saudi Arabian National Wealth Fund regarding the competing golf league resulted from the private discussion held between Monahan, Saudi leaders and two board members.?
Woods is considered one of the strongest opponents of LIV Golf and actively participated in planning a meeting of certain players in Delaware in 2022 to explore prospective PGA Tour structure changes.
In a statement, Woods expressed that the players will put in their full efforts to make sure that any changes in tour operations are made with the utmost consideration for the collective welfare.?
Although Woods never worked for the Player Advisory Council or the PGA Tour policy board, he is still considered to have the most effective and powerful voice among the players. Players have always considered his opinions.?
Recently, Monahan made a new appointment as the tour moves closer to concluding a deal with the Public Investment Fund and the European tour. The Player Directors have appointed Colin Neville, a partner at The Raine Group, as their consultant to offer advice during this process.
