Two action-packed days in Bengaluru as ten Indian Premier League (IPL) teams splurged money to assemble squads before the 2022 edition! Hugh Edmeades started the proceedings on Saturday, but he collapsed mid-way while the teams were in a bidding war for Sri Lankan Wanindu Hasaranga. Charu Sharma filled in for him for the better part of the remaining auction on Saturday and Sunday. Edmeades then made a grand entrance towards the end of the auction and he rightfully concluded the proceedings with usual flair on Sunday. Then, there were players and teams. Ishan Kishan became the most expensive player at the auction with ten players touching the INR 10 crore mark. Mumbai Indians also spent big on Jofra Archer and Tim David, but defending champions Chennai Super Kings, Punjab Kings and one of the new teams, Lucknow Super Giants, made smart buys, spending on multi-utility players, the so-called all-rounders.
