6.2-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Nepal, Strong Tremors Felt In Delhi-NCR
The tremors were felt across cities in North India, including Delhi and the surrounding National Capital Region (NCR).
The earthquake has its epicentre in Western Nepal and occurred at 2:51 pm, according to National Center for Seismology (NCS).
This is the second earthquake to strike the region within an hour. Earlier on 2:25 pm, an earthquake of 4.6-magntitude was reported with its epicentre in the same Western Nepal region.?
The two earthquakes were followed by a number of medium-intensity aftershocks in the region, according to the Nepali seismological body.?
There were reports of two people being injured and some damage to houses and public infrastructure in the region.
Nepali language media reported an official as saying that the highway connecting the popular tourist town of Pokhara in Western Nepal with the national capital Kathmandu had been blocked at a place due to an earthquake-triggered landslide.?
While the earthquake was also felt throughout North India, including in Delhi and the surrounding national capital region (NCR), there have so far been no reports of loss of life or property in India.?
