Himachal Pradesh Reels Under's Nature's Fury, Devastation Unheard Of In Living Memory

Himachal Pradesh continues to reel under the nature's fury as the state has lost at least 350 people in rain-related incidents since the onset of monsoon season this year. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has said the deaths and devasation from the heavy rain and landslides and cloudbursts it triggered is unheard of in the state's history. Dozens of houses have collapsed, neghbourhoods have been washed away, and and several landmark bridges have been carried away by rivers in spate. The state government estimates that the losses are worth around Rs 12,000. From a tourist favourite because of scenic valleys and picturescue landscapes, Himachal has turned into a hotspot of nature's fury and the state government is looking forward to rebuilding the state and correct systemic flaws in planning that paved way for the unprecedented carnage.
