Everyone -- from doctors and medical practitioners to Prime Minister Narendra Modi -- has been stressing the significance the significance of social distancing for the people of the country? in the time of coronavirus, which continues to claim a huge number of lives world over every day.

In India, despite the 21-day lockdown declared by the prime minister, many are still seen on the roads, flouting not just the restrictions but also the very purpose of why they were asked to stay home.

And to deal with the violators and create awareness about COVID-19, Chennai police have designed a helmet that looks like the contagion virus. Photographs shared by news agency ANI show a policeman wearing a dark maroon-coloured helmet, with horns protruding out of it.

Inspector Rajesh babu, the officer who wore one of these helmets, said: "We had been talking to the public. But awareness among them is very less. So we thought of doing something different."

"We designed a helmet that looks like coronavirus. We thought of doing something, which will scare the people and make them stay at home."

The Centre has imposed a nationwide shutdown for 21 days in the wake of the highly contagious coronavirus outbreak that has already infected more than 800 in India. Government has urged people to stay indoors and aggressively practice social distancing.
