Kamal Nath Meets Mallikarjun Kharge, Asked To Appoint New Congress Chief For Madhya Pradesh

The decision of replacing Kamal Nath with a new Congress chief for Madhya Pradesh was taken by the Congress high command and party chief Mallikarjun Kharge following Congress' unexpectedly disappointing result in the state's assembly polls.

In light of the grand old party's disappointing result in the assembly polls, veteran Congress leader and Madhya Pradesh's Congress?chief Kamal Nath is likely to step down. As per media reports, Nath has been?directed by the Congress high command and party chief Mallikarjun Kharge?to appoint a new state president on Tuesday.

Moreover, the Congress leadership also expressed disappointment over Nath's remarks against many leaders of the INDIA bloc, including Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and JD(U) supremo Nitish Kumar, over seat sharing.

On December 3, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) bagged 163 of the 230 assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh, while the Congress recorded victory in 66 segments.

On Tuesday, Kamal Nath also advised party workers not to get disheartened by the loss in the just-held assembly polls and instead pull their socks up and focus on preparations for the Lok Sabha elections which are just a few months away.
