In connection with?the Khalistani-gangster nexus, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday launched raids at?multiple locations across Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. According to the officials, the raids were underway at more than 50 locations.

The anti-terror probe agency's move came amid the the brewing diplomatic tension between India and Canada. The raids were launched after being tipped off on the matter that?Khalistani and gangster elements based in other countries were funding overground workers in India.
As per media reports, the raids on Wednesday were underway at 30 locations in Punjab, 13 locations in Rajasthan, four locations in Haryana, two locations in Uttarakhand and separate locations in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
The anti-terror probe agency's move came amid the the brewing diplomatic tension between India and Canada since?Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, alleged a "potential" involvement of Indian agents in the killing of a Khalistani extremist, Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The killing took place on June 18 in Canada's British Columbia.
The charge was outrightly rejected by New Delhi as "absurd" and "motivated".

The raids were launched after being tipped off on the matter that?Khalistani and gangster elements based in other countries were funding overground workers in India through hawala channels for drugs and weapons. Sources associated with the National Investigation gency (NIA) also spoke confirmed about receiving?inputs on the Khalistani-ISI and gangster nexus.
Information retrieved from gangsters and Khalistanis arrested under the UAPA so far revealed that the nexus is involved in terrorist funding, weapon supply and conducting anti-national activities from foreign soil.
