Gas Leak Fire In Mumbai's Chembur Leaves Nine Injured, Three Critical

Nine people, including four women and one minor sustained injuries in a fire resulting from a gas leak in Mumbai's Chembur area on Thursday night.

Three of the injured individuals are reported to have suffered severe burns exceeding 50 percent and are currently in critical condition.

The incident occurred due to an LPG leak in a chawl at Siddharth Colony in Chembur East at approximately 11.45 pm on Thursday.

A fire brigade official told PTI that one fire engine, a jetty and ambulances were rushed to the spot and the fire was doused in 10-15 minutes.

Among the nine people injured, ranging in age from 17 to 60.

Six of them were admitted to the civic-run Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar while others were admitted to Sion Hospital, Shatabdi Hospital in Govandi, and Manek Hospital in Chembur.

Providing an update on their conditions, the official noted that three of the injured individuals, with burns exceeding 50 percent, are in critical condition.

Meanwhile, five others remain stable, and a 42-year-old man with minor injuries has been discharged from Shatabdi Hospital.
