India's Rohan Bopanna and his Australian partner Matthew Ebden advanced to the US Open final with a straight-set win over French duo Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut here on Thursday.?

The sixth-ranked Indo-Australian duo, who reached the Wimbledon Championships quarterfinals earlier this year, defeated the French combination 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 in the hard court major semifinals.

With this achievement, the 43-year-old Indian also became the oldest player in Open history to reach a Grand Slam final.?

Bopanna outlasted Daniel Nestor of Canada, who was 43 years and 4 months old when he played in a Major final. Interestingly, Bopanna appeared in his first?
Major final in the US Open in 2010, alongside Pakistani partner Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi.

At the Arthur Ashe Stadium, Bopanna and Ebden will face the American team of Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury who defeated the Croatian-American duo of Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek in the semi-final match.

Bopanna is already out of the mixed doubles event with a second-round defeat with Indonesian partner Aldila Sutjiadi.
