South Korea have made it to the semi-finals of the Asian Champions Trophy 2024, having played out a scintillating 3-3 draw against Malaysia, in their last pool match at the Moqi Training Base in Hulunbuir, China on Saturday, September 14
A brace from Jihun Yang, and a Cheoleon Park goal was sufficient for the South Koreans on the day as a tenacious Malaysian side fought till the very end, but eventually fell short.
The first quarter started off on a very strong note for South Korea as they displayed a very attacking brand of hockey. Jihun Yang also converted a penalty corner to give them the lead.
The second quarter, on the other hand, saw a completely different Malaysian side, as they fought back bravely to equalise through Abu Kamal Azrai.
While the third quarter of the game was closely fought with both teams making it 2-2, with some excellent bit of play.
The fourth quarter displayed an exact image of the third quarter, while the play intensity went up a notch as Malaysia took the lead, only for Korea to draw level in the dying stages of the encounter.
