Gujarat Titans' Shubman Gill brought up a 49-ball century, his third of this edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Ahmedabad on Friday.

After being put to bat in the 2nd Qualifier, the Titans got off to a rollicking start, with Gill taking up the role of the aggressor, while Wriddhiman Saha eventually departed after scoring 18 runs from 16 deliveries.

Gill, however, kept his momentum going, bringing up his half-century in 32 balls. His next fifty runs came in just 17 balls.

Piyush Chawla, who dismissed Saha went for 45 runs in his 3 overs. Akash Madhwal (1-52), who grabbed 5 wickets while conceding as many runs in the Eliminator against Lucknow Super Giants, was expensive too, and so was Cameron Green, who registered figures of 3-0-35-0.

In a rain-affected game, with the match starting half-hour late, MI captain Rohit Sharma opted to chase, claiming that the pitch would get better to bat as the match progressed. He would have expected his bowlers to put up resistance against GT's batting, but the barrage of boundaries from Gill's bat surely must have come as a setback.

Gill finally departed after scoring a game-altering 60-ball 129 runs, getting caught by Tim David off Madhwal
