French Open 2024: Stan Wawrinka Defeats Andy Murray - In Pics
Swiss player Stan Wawrinka defeated Englishman Andy Murray 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 in the first-round contest on Sunday night as the latter was applauded away by the fans in the court in what possibly was his last appearance at Roland Garros. Wawrinka, at 39, is just the third man of at least that age to win a match at the clay-court Grand Slam tournament since 1980. Murray just turned 37, and this contest had the second-oldest combined age for two men in Paris since 2000. However, Murray's French Open sojourn is not over yet as he is still in the mix for the men's doubles alongside fellow Brit, Dan Evans.
