On July 11, young Indian badminton player Sankar Muthusamy registered two wins on the trot to catapult himself to the main draw of the men’s singles competition at the US Open Super 300.?

The ace shuttler started making inroads when he made light work of his Brazillian opponent Davi Silva and won the first game 21-17, 21-11.?

In his second match, the Indian youngster locked horns against his Canadian counterpart??B.R. Sankeerth and decimated him 21-11, 21-17.?

Experienced campaigner Parupalli Kashyap had a heartbreaking end to his campaign, as he had to retire in his second qualification match versus Japan’s Koo Takahashi. Kashyap began on a high note after defeating Canadian Rohan Midha by 21-19, 21-17 but was forced to retire in the second match after trailing by 23-21, 11-7 against Takahashi.?

Among the Indian shuttlers, the Men’s doubles duo of Krishan Prasad and Vishnuavardhan Goud crashed out of the competition following their 21-14, 21-14 defeat in the first match.

Olympic medalist PV Sindhu and recently concluded Canada Open winner Lakshya Sen will play their first match of the competition against USA’s Disha Gupta and Finland’s Kalle Koljonen, respectively. Tokyo Olympian B Sai Praneeth and Ruthvika Shivani Gadde will play their opening matches as well on Wednesday, July 12.?
