With the Paris Olympics firmly behind us, the focus of the sporting world shifts to the 2024 Paralympic Games in the French capital. The Paris Paralympics, the 17th edition of the event, begin on Wednesday, August 28 and go on till Sunday, September 8, the day for which the closing ceremony is scheduled.

The schedule of the Paris Paralympics has been out for a while now. As discussed above, the Games go on from August 28 to September 8. Out of which, no sporting action takes place on August 28, the day of the opening ceremony. The action on the field begins on August 29 and then till the last day of the Paralympics, medals will be on the line. In fact, on the very first day of the competitions kicking off, 22 gold medals will be up for grabs with 15 on the line in para swimming events alone. The 11-day sporting action will see 549 medal events taking place across 18 different venues in Paris.

These 549 medals will push these para athletes to their limits. Each one of them, irrespective of their limitations, will give his/her best to make these games a memory that they will cherish for a lifetime. The Games will inspire a generation of physically disabled people to take up sports.

India has sent 84 athletes to the Paris Paralympics, its highest-ever contingent. Hopes ride on the contingent to return with the best-ever medal tally for the country. India’s medal hunt too will begin from the very first day of the Paralympics as multiple athletes will be on the field trying to get on the podium.
